OEM Throttle body reference 171716 (aka Bosch 0 280 750 038) has been discontinued by Bosch*.
This 171716 throttle body is nothing really more than a Bosch Throttle body reference 0 280 750 474 with a hole on the side to connect the return pipe for engine vapors.
Except the different Bosch reference number and the hole on the side, everything else is virtually identical between the Bosch 0 280 750 474 and the part sold by Ferrari under reference 171716.

Part 171716 / Bosch 0 280 750 038 has many disadvantages:
 - No Longer manufactured (confirmed by Bosch official distributor)
 - Specific to the Ferrari 360 => no cross referencing possible
 - Old stock items cost approximately c. USD 2,300 +VAT
 - Highly recommended to replace both throttle bodies at the same time to avoid voltage/amperage imbalance between new/old throttle body that could lead to Check Engine Line and entering into limp mode.

Our Solution: 3D printed Stainless Steel Adapter fitted on Bosch 0 280 750 474
We retro-engineered the part that allows for the return pipe to be connected to the throttle body, and adapted it on still manufactured Original Bosch 0 280 750 474, commonly used on some Porsches (many 991s, Cayman, Cayenne, Macan, Cayman) and VW vehicles - a total of close to 2 million cars produced with that Bosch 0 280 750 474 throttle body, making it unlikely to create a bottle neck of sourcing for our beloved c. 17,000 Ferrari 360s (including Challenge Stradale).

The 3D printed part also integrates the fixing plate to fix the OEM plastic holder that holds the wiring loom so that the thickness between the head of the screw and the holding plate is identical to OEM.

Note that the internal diameter of the vacuum conduct is virtually identical to the OEM one (9.38mm vs 9.36mm as measured by digital caliper) ensuring a functionality virtually identical as OEM.

Rigorous manufacturing process

3D printing in Stainless Steel
The part is 3D printed in 316L Stainless Steel using Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology, followed at the manufacturing plant by thorough sand blasting and quality control. We selected 316L Stainless Steel on purpose for maximum strength, maximum ability to resist high temperature and vibrations.

Cleaning
Once received by 360CustomParts, the part is cleaned with degreasing agent via ultrasonic cleaner at high temperature (80 C / 176F) for 30 minutes, the internal conduit thoroughly brushed to complete the cleaning, then thoroughly rinsed via ultrasonic cleaner at high temperature (80 C / 176F) for 30 minutes, and dried with compressed air.

Fitting
From there, the part is fitted on a carefully and precisely drilled Bosch 0 280 750 474
and is held in place via very snug fit and the original screws holding the throttle body in place. At the point of junction, the air seal is made by adding a small bead of RVT compatible for this application.

This results is an almost identical throttle body, plug and play with the original return pipe and overall fitting, but for c. 70% cheaper than the OEM version.

Note that for safety during transport, the 3D printed Adapter will be secured by 2 bolts/nuts. These 2 bolts will need to be removed right before installation.

Thoroughly tested over 1,000km+ on our own Ferrari 360:
We put our trust in our product to the test, swapping our fully functional OEM throttle bodies with our 360CustomParts throttle bodies and drove over 1,000km to test it in real world condition:
 - Driven up to 250 Km/h on Autobahn without any issue
 - No reprogrammation needed (should you disconnect the battery before installation, the ECU will enter its normal relearn procedure)
 - No CEL (Check Engine Light)
 - Worked as OEM and as intended

Benefits of 360CustomParts throttle body vs OEM Throttle body refurbishment vs DIY solution:
With an OEM Throttle body refurbishment you get a refurbished 25+ year old throttle body that has been through 25+ years of vibration, thermal cycling, potentiometer sliding etc.

Our 360CustomParts Throttle body offer key advantages over other solutions:
 - Use brand new Bosch throttle body with 100% new internals (casing, gearing, electronic) and external organs, never opened so optimized for long term reliability and with minimal risk of failure
 - Air-flow geometry as close as possible to OEM 171716 thanks to same positioning of return pipe and same internal diameter
 - Minimal visual difference vs OEM 171716
 - Fully plug and play without the need to reprogram ECUs

Installation - Plug and play - no ECU reprogramming needed:
As per our own experience, our 360CustomParts Throttle body is totally plug and play and does not require any ECU reprogramming.

In some cases, in particular if the imbalance between your 2 OEM throttle bodies is important, it may be beneficial to "Reset Adaptation Values Motorized Throttle", and a simple USD 100 ThinkDiag OBD 2 reader can do it. On both ECUs (Left and Right) proceed as follows through the Thinkdiag menus (note the Ferrari 360 quirks that the Left ECU controls the Right TB and the Right ECU controls the Left TB):
360 Modena
> F131
> Gasoline
> System Selection
> Electronic Injection (NCM)
> Left/Right Bank Motronic Bosch Engine Management System 7.3.1
> Actuation Test
> Reset Adaptation Values Motorized Throttle
From here, with the ignition ON and the engine OFF, click OK and you should hear the Left/Right throttle body activate and make rocky movement for c. 2 seconds. Repeat for the other side. Once done, the ECU data related to the throttle bodies will have been reset.

Installation:

Please follow these steps precisely to avoid the return pipe to get disconnected from the throttle body leading to potential air leak.

 - Step 1: Remove the 2 bolts/nuts/washer holding the breather in place for transportation
 - Step 2: Secure the 360CustomParts Throttle body to the spacer using the 4 original bolts
 - Step 3: Once the throttle body is securely in place, then slide the rubber return hose on the return pipe
 - Step 4: Connect the Throttle Body using the OEM connector

Note:
1) The displayed price is for 1 throttle body. Should you want to replace both, please order 2 of our products.

2) If you purchase this product you understand that this is a modified product from a genuine / brand new Bosch throttle body 0 280 750 474, and the artisanal drilling and fitting means that some visual scratches could be visible on the finished product and that some minor adjustment have been done (including adjustment to the individual components). 360CustomParts spends over 45 minutes for each part to make sure the drilling is done properly, that no aluminum metal shaving is to be found in the finished product, that the RVT is properly dry before shipment.

Fair pricing disclaimer:
While our philosophy is to almost always charge 3-5x the manufacturing cost, this item is one of the very few exceptions that applies a higher rate due to the disproportionate amount of work done to retro-engineer this part and risk/time taken to drill relatively expensive throttle bodies. For this reason, we apply the 3-5x pricing on the overall "manufacturing + acquisition" cost rather than just on the manufacturing cost.
